OSDU Data Platform

Open Standards & Subsurface Data Interoperability

Connecting specialized subsurface knowledge with open, interoperable data architectures. We combine geoscience domain expertise with modern data engineering approaches to help energy organizations structure, integrate and modernize complex subsurface information.

OSDU — Open Subsurface Data Universe

Open standards. Domain-aware integration.

Standards, models & APIs

The Open Group OSDU Forum develops an open industry data platform and standards ecosystem for energy. The OSDU Standard defines data models and API specifications, providing a common foundation for information exchange.

Platform implementations

The open-source OSDU Data Platform provides a reference implementation of the standard. Deployed implementations bring services together in specific environments, where cloud services, operating models and integration choices vary.

Proven expertise

Our focus is subsurface domain knowledge, data engineering and interoperability. The areas below describe technical focus, not completed customer projects, OSDU Forum governing membership, official partnership or implementation certification.

Subsurface Data Integration

Connecting seismic, well, geological and reservoir information across specialized applications and enterprise data environments.

Connecting Subsurface Data with Modern Data Platforms

OSDU-aligned data architectures can coexist and integrate with lakehouse environments, including Databricks, through appropriate engineering and interoperability patterns. Metadata mapping, service interfaces, data movement and access policies must be designed for the selected environments. Databricks is not a mandatory OSDU component, and OSDU does not automatically provide native Databricks integration.
